Pilates FAQ

  • What will Pilates do for me?

    A consistent Pilates program (2-3 sessions per week) will significantly improve posture and strength of the core musculature of the body. With these foundational elements present, clients can expect to see gains in strength, loss of inches, enhanced balance, endurance, coordination and flexibility. 

  • Can I continue to do weights and my other exercise routines while I do Pilates?

    Yes! In fact the Fletcher Pilates® principals can be applied to and will enhance virtually all movement including any supplemental fitness program you may enjoy. 

  • How do I get started?

    Call us at 210.499.5555 or email at frontdesk@lonestarpilates.com. We would be happy to get you started with a personalized exercise program through Pilates. 

  • How does the studio design a Pilates program specific to my needs?

    Before your first session, you will complete an Intake Form to let us know about your specific body issues and fitness goals. We will work with you to structure a conditioning program based on your physical needs and goals. 

  • How long will it take me to notice changes in my body?

    Joseph Pilates' claimed "in ten sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see the difference, and in 30 you'll have a new body." We recommend exercising at least 2-3 times per week to improve and then maintain your strength. However, every body is different. Your own awareness and dedication to a regular practice will affect you see it's impact in your body. 

  • What should I wear?

    No shoes. Comfortable, form-fitting, clothing - nothing too baggy so your instructor can see you move.




  • Who is Ron Fletcher?

    Ron Fletcher was a student of Joseph Pilates, and is recognized as one of only a hand full of Master Teachers of the Pilates Work. Fletcher's background in dance, his gift for movement and the legacy passed onto him by Clara Pilates to continue to build on the Pilates principles have resulted in an innovative approach to teaching movement. 

  • Will I be able to perform these exercises with existing injuries?

    Most can perform basic Fletcher Pilates® exercises, however, if you've had a serious injury or a recent surgery, we strongly recommend consulting your doctor before beginning any new exercise program. We would be happy to consult with your Physician if you are under current care. 

  • Will I gain flexibility?

    Yes. Improving flexibility is one of the principal benefits of a consistent Fletcher Pilates® regimen. 

  • Will I lose weight?

    Practicing Fletcher Pilates provides resistance and will help you burn calories. However, Pilates is not considered aerobic until one masters the advanced work. If you are trying to lose weight, we recommend Pilates along with aerobic exercise (running, swimming, biking, etc) and proper diet to help burn calories. 

  • Will this program flatten my abs?

    Absolutely! Fletcher Pilates® focus on strengthening the core musculature with the use of the Percussive Breath in addition to abdominal exercises inevitably will result in flatter, firmer tummies. 

  • Will this program help my back pain?

    Fletcher Pilates® promotes strength in posture and muscles of the hip that can often lead to an alleviation of back pain. However, we recommend if you suffer from back pain that you consult with your doctor before beginning a new exercise program.
